Awareness training on disaster reduction and preparedness
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: District administration Sagalee conducted “One Day Awareness Training on Disaster Reduction and Preparedness” at Sagalee yesterday. The training was intended for all the heads of line department of Sagalee.
Chuku Talar, ADC Sagalee inaugurated the programme. He advised the heads of department to be in preparedness for any eventuality during the monsoon season. Dr Kirto Loyi, deputy director SIRD, Itanagar attended the programme as Resource person. Dr Loyi dwelt on various aspect on Disaster Reduction and Preparedness. He explained the need on constitution of different teams of experts in managing disasters and expected Roles and Responsibilities of team such as Rescue Team, First Aid & Medical Team, Damage Assessment Team, Water & Sanitation Team, Buffer Stock of food Grain Team etc. There is a need for comprehensive knowledge on disaster management and skills to enhance the capabilities of all concerned stakeholders.

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The district disaster management authority, Papum Pare and Capital Complex in collaboration with 1st Bn National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Guwahati comprising of 30 personnel led by Inspector Pukhraj Vishnoi conducted familiarization training on disaster management at various places such as VKV Chimpu, VKV Nirjuli, Govt. Hr. Secondary School Doimukh, PTC Banderdewa, Yupia headquarter and Govt. Hr Sec School Kimin from June 10 to 17 last.
The programme, which was attended by the locals, students, trainee police personnels and various NGO members, discussed natural calamities like flood, earthquakes, landslides etc.
In the exercise, the team explained about dos and don’ts during natural calamities. An exhibition of disaster management rescue equipments was also held at Yupia district headquarters.

DEOMALI, Jun 18: In a significant development, Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Doimukh has accorded permanent affiliation to Wangcha Rajkumar Government College, Deomali on the recommendation of a committee constituted by the university and approval of the same by its Academic Council. Solve power crisis, says AUSDSU
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Expressing its anguish over power crisis in the entire Upper Siang district, the All Upper Siang District Students Union (AUSDSU) has warned of launching democratic movement against the concern authority if the crisis is not solved within a month.
In the release, it said, we have submitted memorandum regarding the crisis to the concern authority and the local MLA many times, but the situation, which began in 2011, is still the same.
On an average, we hardly get five hours of electricity every month. Students cannot concentrate in their studies, official works go pending for days, wireless communication goes bland and the medical supports do not work even in emergency.

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has condoled premature demise of one of the young members of the community Kapu Tajam. Late Tajam was a resident of Raga administrative circle of Lower Subansiri district. He succumbed to fatal injuries inflicted upon him by some unknown assailants near school gate of Govt. H.S School, Ziro at about 9.00 pm on Saturday. The victim was referred to GNRC, Guwahati but had to rush back to Itanagar sensing imminent death due to the grievous injuries. NES has urged upon the Lower Subansiri district administration and the police to nail the culprits at the earliest and book as per the law to ensure speedy justice.

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) has written to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki drawing his attention towards two major issues concerning the Christian community of state. The ACF has appealed to chief minister to involve it in the decision making process for the selection of programmes and allocation of funds under Multi Sectoral Development Programme for Minorities (MSDP).
MSDP is basically meant for minorities and the Christian community of the state being a religious minority has a rightful claim to the benefit of these funds. The ACF is in a position to understand better the needs of our community, it stated. Forum also reminded CM about promise to release rupees ten crores towards providing better infrastructural facilities for various Christian educational institutions. Despite repeated promises, till date no money has been released in this regard. ACF requested CM to keep word and release said amount at the earliest so that the confidence of the people in the government is not lost on account of unfulfilled promises.

Vandalization of NRL petrol depot condemned
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The Capital Complex Petroleum Depots Association (CCPDA) has condemned the ransacking and vandalisation of NRL petrol pump. The action of defying law is highly condemnable and such acts should be discouraged, stated CCPDA in a release.
“Though NRL depot is not an official member of CCPDA, our association stands in solidarity with it in this hour of crisis,” said CCPDA. Further they added, “wilful contribution or donation should be respected by all organisations. It should not be identified as a weakness of the donour organisation and rather be treated as respect.” Association further appealed for more security cover for the various petrol depots of the capital complex.
Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) today vehemently condemned the vandalization of NRL petrol depot owned by Advocate Tony Pertin near Papu Nallah by some miscreants on Monday evening.
In a strong worded release ABK said that such act of vandalism should be condemned by various quarters of the society. ABK also urged the authority to arrest the persons involved in ransacking and demanded for compensation of the damage. It also appealed to the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, community based organizations and students’ organizations to condemn such act.
Meanwhile Arunachal Students Federation (ASF) also condemned the ransacking of NRL petrol depot. ASF stated that such act is highly condemnable and it also requested the administration to arrest the culprits.
KHONSA, Jun 18: All Tutsa Welfare Society of Tirap and Changlang districts has mourned the untimely demise of former Minister and founding father of the Tutsa tribe late Wangnia Pongte who died in a tragic car accident at Dhemaji, Assam on June15 last.
The ATWS said late Pongte was a dynamic leader of the Tutsa tribe, his sudden demise is a great loss to the Tutsa tribe.

Through your esteemed daily I would like to focus on some of the problems of the customers of the private company i.e Jeevan Samriddhi which is located in Naharlagun. After Kolkata Sharda Group Chit Fund Scandal, the customers of Jeevan Samriddhi got worried and asked the company to return their principal amount without interest but utter to our surprise, the aforesaid company is refusing to pay back our principal amount by citing the reason of non maturity of plan. If Private Company like Rose Valley can return back the principal amount to their feared customers than why Jeevan Samriddhi is denying the principal amount of the customers. Even banks and insurance company like SBI, UCO,AXIS, Vijaya etc. banks and LIC, Bajaj Allianz etc can pay back before maturity why not they? Are they waiting for us to knock the door of consumer court? Are they waiting for us to lodge an FIR in police?
Now question is that, where they have invested our money? We are not asking for interest, why they are unable to payback our principal amount. All these things make us to doubt integrity of the company.
It is our sincere request to the state govt. to intervene in this matter seriously, otherwise the hard earned money of the people of Arunachal Pradesh is in danger again after Jeevan Suraksha scandal.

Do something worthwhile for the welfare of students
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed and reputed daily, I am writing this in regard to vandalism of NRL petroleum station by suspected AAPSU activists.
Gone are the days of AAPSU when they would fight for the genuine right of Arunachal Students. Nowadays, it is all about money, politics and corruption.
Damaging a petrol station because the owner refused to give them petrol shows barbarism of our union leader. Only a third class union can show these types of acts.
And moving on to the statement issued by AAPSU that Mr Pertin is supporting Bhutanese refugee, I want to ask our beloved AAPSU leader where were they all this time.
When govt. said they would issue PRC to NON APST, why they were silent? may be their pockets were filled by politicians.
My request to the AAPSU, as you represents all students; please do something worthwhile for the welfare of students instead of commuting such shameless acts.
Bring back the old glory reputation of AAPSU.

Selective target of Arunachalee vehicle
Dear Editor,
This is about an experience while traveling in Assam road, which has left me feeling
cheated & exploited by Assam police just because my car registration number bears
letters "AR". On 15th June 2013 I was traveling towards Itanagar from Bhalukpong.
In between Ghopur (Assam) and Banderdewa I was stopped by some police constables,
they demanded to see my car's registration card & driving license, which I obediently
showed. Everything about documents was ok but they pointed towards police station
and asked me to talk there. I was confused but I went in, name of police station
is "Hawajan Police Outpost". A constable in khaki (his name plate reads Bhuyan) asks
for my documents again, I obliged again, he kept documents in his custody & demanded
insurance paper of car, I produced again. Then he said insurance premium for current
year has not been paid yet and asked to pay Rs 1000/-
What makes me angry is the way they single out vehicles of Arunachal for applying
traffic rule and extortion of money for their individual pocket. On that particular
day also so many vehicles of Assam were openly violating traffic rules in front of
the said police station, bikers were plying with 3 persons without helmet, passenger
vehicles like Tata Winger were carrying 15 -
Therefore I sincerely request S.P of Sonitpur District to kindly inculcate some manner and wisdom to his subordinates. I am ready to pay my fine but legally and in prescribed challan.
I also request our state govt. not to give a deaf ear to this constant cry of foul by citizens of Arunachal and talking to Assam counterpart might solve the problem.
